death poetry

which keeps
glooms of the live-oaks
i shall see a star tonight
my soul is a dark ploughed field
if i had known how narrow a prison is love
as it
we lay
i saw god. do you doubt it?
brother, i am fire
if i were very sure
softly weeping
the lightning flashed, and lifted
full of tears
