haiku poem

the child who threw away leaf after leaf
to come so soon to this imagined dark
do not grieve that it is over
it tells of good old times
as a white candle
though i am little as all little things
have you seen walking through the village
the poets tell
a thin gray shadow on the edge of thought
the little white prayers
it was the autumn of the year
