dark poetry

it was the autumn of the year
a look is but a ray
there is no flock, however watched and tended
rising moon has hid the stars
through the broad earth's aching breast
one with you
i am singing to you
if it
beside a stricken field
for these white arms about my neck
stern cold man
and so it goes
