mother daughter poem

which keeps
last night the full moon laid a cloth of white
from song and dream for ever gone
the light withdrawn
i burn no incense
god
all my love for my sweet
stir
often is it not so?
why do
i have seen the proudest stars
it was the autumn of the year
if i were very sure
