romantic poem

while i stood listening, discreetly dumb
a very remarkable history this is
i had a dream and i awoke with it
when sea-winds pierced our solitudes
wheel me down by the meadow
the earth keeps some vibration going
what do i owe to you
it tells of good old times
the arches of the red bridge
perhaps
rose and amber was the sunset on the river
in halls of sleep you wandered by
i saw the first pear
rising moon has hid the stars
