love poems

by the rude bridge
are you alive?
like him whose spirit in the blaze of noon
the air is full of dawn and spring
of sun nor stars
all quiet along the potomac
tripping up, falling down
for then without
sitting in his rocker waiting for your tea
could we but know
tell me not
it was the autumn of the year
