autumn poetry

the darkness steals the forms of all the queens
grieve not for the invisible
i said, i have shut my heart
white foam flower, red flame flower
i saw you hunched and shivering on the stones
a thin gray shadow on the edge of thought
though love repine, and reason chafe
that strange companion came on shuffling feet
where shall i find you
they threw a stone, you threw a stone
i cannot always feel his greatness
wrap the earth in cloudy weather
