sad poem

to come so soon to this imagined dark
she has a clear, wind-sheltered loveliness
i expect you
in the sphere
dear wife
perhaps it is no matter that you died
do i like it
shadows lay along broadway
have we no shame?
for i was a gaunt, grave councillor
