free love poem

she must go back, she said
brother, i am fire
glooms of the live-oaks
very well, you liberals
a look is but a ray
in the cloud-gray mornings
i saw the first pear
these be
if i should die, think only this of me
at dawn, he said
i am old and blind
there is no escape by the river
