narrative poetry

i walk down the garden paths
i have to say good-night
a thousand silent years ago
give me
in september
through the broad earth's aching breast
the saddest of the year
a storm is riding on the tide
gone are the three, those sisters rare
up from the south at break of day
all quiet along the potomac
i flung my soul to the air like a falcon flying
