free love poem

in new york harbor
noises that strive to tear
stir
to what shall a woman liken her beloved
by the rude bridge
who loves the rain
death's nobility again
this is the ship of pearl
when freedom from her mountain height
had he and i but met
in his guarded tent
it tells of good old times
