footprint poem

with lips blood red and heart of stone
arched the flood
these hearts were woven of human joys and cares
if i should die, think only this of me
the long resounding marble corridors
high walls and huge
to come so soon to this imagined dark
she said
now for a brisk and cheerful fight
tell me
the single clenched fist lifted and ready
sweet and strong
he's gone
