anniversary poetry

day is done
will you glimmer on the sea?
the light withdrawn
why then, must we see?
this ancient silver bowl of mine
in an old chamber softly lit
when the hours of day are numbered
let a joy keep you
that year
the smell of the rose so false, the thorns so true
