the little pitiful, worn, laughing faces
death's nobility again
when sea-winds pierced our solitudes
in new york harbor
all within and all without me
a thousand silent years ago
her face is fair and smooth and fine
this is the ship of pearl
little gate was reached at last
the poets tell
