poem

three years ago today
as i lie roofed in, screened in
brother, i am fire
within my hand i hold
since, if you stood by my side today
gingham dog and the calico cat
braided and woven
old wine to drink
up and down he goes
quietly, with reverance, in awe
happiness
beneath the warrior's helm
hang no wreath
could we but know
