autumn poem

if i should die, think only this of me
the ancient songs
be patient, life, when love is at the gate
all down the years
i despise my friends more than you
for truth, for love
master of human destinies am i
in mournful numbers
i am fevered
for then without
as a naked man i go
what shall we do now
there is no escape by the river
see the tentative
