love friendship poem

you are beautiful and faded
you are my companion
over the river they beckon to me
the poets tell
the body may confine
little gate was reached at last
when sea-winds pierced our solitudes
she must go back, she said
tell me
under a spreading chestnut tree
old wine to drink
