pumpkin poem

there are gains for all our losses
gloom
night is dark, and the winter winds
roses and gold
she has a clear, wind-sheltered loveliness
the long resounding marble corridors
have you heard
for truth, for love
as a naked man i go
and as we walked the grass was faintly stirred
short and sweet, and we've come to the end of it
over the rooftops race the shadows of clouds
three days i heard them grieve when i lay dead
