family poem

short and sweet, and we've come to the end of it
sad are they who know not love
now for a brisk and cheerful fight
and so it goes
very well, you liberals
beside a stricken field
give me
i have heard that a certain princess
leave the lovely words unsaid
when the wind works against us in the dark
in all things not spoken of
i have known the silence of the stars and of the sea
that strange companion came on shuffling feet
i see all human wits
