black poetry

tell me
i never knew the earth had so much gold
i am a woman
we who stood
so fallen
perhaps
arched the flood
i stand in the cold gray weather
let me move slowly through the street
last midnight
sun and wind and beat of sea
city that is not a city
the little white prayers
