slam poetry

a little peach in the orchard grew
the ancient songs
muffled drum's sad roll has beat
passing through huddled and ugly walls
have you seen walking through the village
when sea-winds pierced our solitudes
all quiet along the potomac
dark-eyed
though i am little as all little things
with the meek, brown eyes
the agony of having too much power
