short poem

i gazed upon the glorious sky
i love my life, but not too well
in mournful numbers
though love repine, and reason chafe
among the mountains i wandered
tell me not
the dawn was apple-green
are you awake?
i've won the race
if i had known how narrow a prison is love
the ancient songs
