poem for pastors

dear wife
within my hand i hold
a sky that has never known sun, moon or stars
stay no more
you say you love me
the light withdrawn
sitting in his rocker waiting for your tea
under dusky laurel leaf
happiness
the sky
as a white candle
just now
and so it goes
