broken heart poem

let a joy keep you
she might have known it in the earlier spring
why do
are you awake?
no prey am i of poor thoughts
green afternoon serene and bright
god
i saw him once before
dark-eyed
my soul is a dark ploughed field
look out upon the stars, my love
