teenage love poem

skies they were ashen and sober
the sky
give me
i am old and blind
these be
i burn no incense
by the shore, by the sea
high-born race
storm
in new york harbor
melancholy, blue it was
when sea-winds pierced our solitudes
which i wish to remark
i have known the silence of the stars and of the sea
