son poem

mysterious night
i have to say good-night
grieve not for the invisible
do you remember
that strange companion came on shuffling feet
i am dying
at dawn, he said
her face is fair and smooth and fine
listen
are you alive?
i expect you
i went up and down the streets
lived by the river-side
