child poetry

what was it the engines said
a thousand silent years ago
be not angry with me
have you heard
rocked in the cradle of the deep
little gate was reached at last
when i was a boy at college
rising moon has hid the stars
backward, turn backward
when sea-winds pierced our solitudes
