wedding poem

from floor to ceiling
the child who threw away leaf after leaf
simplicity
under dusky laurel leaf
we were not many
i love the old melodious lays
awful truths these be
so lost
high-born race
along the banks
in all things not spoken of
it was the autumn of the year
