lyric poetry

burly, dozing humble-bee
i said, i have shut my heart
a storm is riding on the tide
i saw with open eyes
with joy and wonder
how wild, how witch-like weird that life should be
for truth, for love
there is no flock, however watched and tended
glooms of the live-oaks
there was a time in former years
all quiet along the potomac
under the harvest moon
renew the vision of delight
