daughter poem

i know what you're going to say
rocked in the cradle of the deep
my son is dead and i am going blind
sitting in his rocker waiting for your tea
out of me unworthy and unknown
i can not tell you now
will you glimmer on the sea?
suddenly, out of dark and leafy ways
these hearts were woven of human joys and cares
this is the song of youth
evidenced in the glimmer in your eyes
her face is fair and smooth and fine
why do you always stand there shivering
noises that strive to tear
