teenage love poem

the single clenched fist lifted and ready
shadows lay along broadway
a flying word from here and there
muffled drum's sad roll has beat
it is true that you say the gods are more use to you than fairies
she has a clear, wind-sheltered loveliness
the dawn was apple-green
stern cold man
she was a beauty in the days
but i cannot read you now
awful truths these be
you are my companion
