birthday poem

the pale day drowses on the western steep
a look is but a ray
looking beyond
now while my lips are living
sweet and strong
often is it not so?
with the sunset
braided and woven
pushing out, struggling vainly
woman much missed, how you call to me, call to me
and my name is truthful
sing again the song you sung
