friendship poetry

this is the song of youth
at dawn, he said
therefore i may not
with her hair flaying wildly
eighty years have passed, and more
here falls no light
weak-winged is song
the lightning flashed, and lifted
birds against the april wind
friend, whose smile has come to be
hang no wreath
stay no more
the old songs
