poem

brief on a flying night
hang no wreath
are you awake?
when sea-winds pierced our solitudes
at dawn, he said

the poets tell
they ask me where i've been
just as my fingers on these keys
look back with longing eyes and know that i will follow
as a white candle
stay no more
perhaps
