mother poem

i expect you
stern cold man
when i returned at sunset
i am in love with high far-seeing places
night is dark, and the winter winds
tell me not
looking beyond
in new york harbor
there is an hour of peaceful rest
not from the whole wide world
just as my fingers on these keys
i am a woman
