fall poetry

that year
i have come into the desert because my soul is athirst
winged shadows sweeping by
the single clenched fist lifted and ready
here lies a most beautiful lady
i was a goddess ere the marble found me
stand here by my side
how shall i help to right the world that is going wrong
do not turn your head
had he and i but met
within this lowly grave a conqueror lies
just now
