sad poem

when the hours of day are numbered
i love my life, but not too well
have we no shame?
high walls and huge
from floor to ceiling
i love my hour of wind and light
i flung my soul to the air like a falcon flying
high-born race
have you heard
the light withdrawn
do not turn your head
