happy birthday poem

i said, i have shut my heart
when the veil from the eyes is lifted
now while my lips are living
desolate and lone
over the river, on the hill
high-born race
rocked in the cradle of the deep
just now
in and of itself
tell me less or tell me more
i am old and blind
