sympathy poem

we were not many
shades of night were falling fast
the lightning flashed, and lifted
when sea-winds pierced our solitudes
in and of itself
behold me, in my chiffon, gauze and tinsel
here falls no light
out of the sparkling sea
bring me soft song
often is it not so?
