brother poem

with the sunset
backward, turn backward
therefore i may not
shades of night were falling fast
candles toppling sideways in tomato cans
often is it not so?
over the rooftops race the shadows of clouds
the single clenched fist lifted and ready
weak-winged is song
on and on
in and of itself
