lyric poem

bring me soft song
she said
one by one, like leaves from a tree
stern cold man
a life on the ocean wave
let a joy keep you
out of the deep and the dark
a look is but a ray
the smell of the rose so false, the thorns so true
by the rude bridge
softly weeping
it tells of good old times
she knows a cheap release
are you awake?
