birthday poem

she might have known it in the earlier spring
the little white prayers
in may
happiness
so fallen
quietly, with reverance, in awe
what spiteful chance steals unawares
is there anybody there
white foam flower, red flame flower
pharaoh, king of egypt's land
a look is but a ray
old wine to drink
