pumpkin poem

i've won the race
i have seen the proudest stars
daughters of time
last night the full moon laid a cloth of white
i do not pray for peace
risen from the dead
daughter, thou art come to die
so lost
arched the flood
i hold your heart
while i stood listening, discreetly dumb
when i was a boy at college
