religious poem

i am singing to you
sweet with fern and rose
sweet splendor
but alas, just dreams
see, they return
he'd even have his joke
i burn no incense
uplifting, as the wind blew
it tells of good old times
glooms of the live-oaks
out of the window a sea of green trees
the light withdrawn
