sympathy poem

i am singing to you
give me
that year
wheel me down by the meadow
we were not many
tell me less or tell me more
glooms of the live-oaks
i love my life, but not too well
somewhere i read a strange, old, rusty tale
when you come tonight
i burn no incense
old wine to drink
