sad poetry

all within and all without me
a thin gray shadow on the edge of thought
could we but know
now for a brisk and cheerful fight
the swan existing
i have seen the proudest stars
the meadow was creeping
for these white arms about my neck
the darkness
so fallen
sweet splendor
