teenage love poem

the ancient songs
the meadow was creeping
short and sweet, and we've come to the end of it
fat black bucks in a wine-barrel room
i loved a woman
muffled drum's sad roll has beat
braided and woven
long has the summer sunlight shone
along a river-side
