short funny poem

mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam
the sun is up
under dusky laurel leaf
dear wife
in their ragged regimentals
there is a country full of wine
see, from this counterfeit of him
moonlight deep and tender
as it
a thin gray shadow on the edge of thought
perhaps it is no matter that you died
in an old chamber softly lit
high-born race
