epic poetry

while i stood listening, discreetly dumb
the arches of the red bridge
roses and gold
hang no wreath
tripping up, falling down
at dawn, he said
i saw the clouds among the hills
of sun nor stars
that year
renew the vision of delight
why do
desolate and lone
at midnight
now that i have cooled to you
