grandma poem

i made a vow once, one only
thou unrelenting past
the meadow was creeping
though love repine, and reason chafe
but alas, just dreams
pharaoh, king of egypt's land
the ancient songs
he speaks not well
i shake my hair in the wind of morning
now while my lips are living
the old songs
calm as that second summer
